If you’re involved in the Los Angeles business community, you might have heard about a unique initiative called Compete4LA. This initiative is designed to foster growth and competition among local businesses in the LA area. But what exactly is Compete4LA, and how does it work? Let’s dive deeper into this innovative program.
What Is Compete4LA?
Compete4LA is an initiative launched in Los Angeles to provide small businesses, particularly those that are underserved, with opportunities to compete for and win contracting opportunities.
This platform allows you to take advantage of over $10 billion in public and private contracting opportunities available through RAMP, the City of LA’s new platform for contracting.
The program takes inspiration from London’s successful online portal CompeteFor initially established for the 2012 Olympics.
Compete4LA operates as a database, housing information on over 31,000 publicly accessible, verified businesses. The database serves as a powerful tool to address equity issues in Los Angeles by connecting public agencies, prime contractors, and small businesses.
The initiative has been spearheaded by the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) and the University of Southern California (USC), with the aim to expand access for minority and underserved businesses.
How Does Compete4LA Work?
The Compete4LA initiative works by providing a transparent and user-friendly online system where businesses can access information about available city contracts. These contracts span across a wide range of sectors, including construction, professional services, goods and supplies, and more.
Businesses interested in competing for these contracts can register on the Compete4LA platform and get notified about relevant contract opportunities. They can then submit their bids or proposals directly through the system.
